2008 Vic Edelbrock Sr. Northwest Kansas Technical College Scholarship Recipient Awarded On Hot Rod Power Tour.
Edelbrock Corporation recently made the most of the Hot Rod Power Tour stop in the city of Topeka, Kansas, June 9, 2008. Edelbrock CEO and President Vic Edelbrock, Jr. awarded Keith Carroll of Longmont, Colorado, the 2008 Vic Edelbrock Sr. Northwest Kansas Technical College scholarship.
The scholarship was created in 1996 in memory of Vic Edelbrock Sr., who was born and raised in northwest Kansas before moving west and establishing Edelbrock in a small shop in Los Angeles in 1938. Vic Edelbrock Jr. and granddaughter Courtney Isom chose Keith Carroll as the scholarship winner out of six finalists, based on his scholastic achievement, essay, and video interview.
Vic Edelbrock and daughter Christi Edelbrock, Edelbrock VP of Purchasing, presented Keith with a check in the amount of $7,500, a signed copy of the book Edelbrock: Made in USA, and an Edelbrock letterman jacket.
Keith is currently enrolled in the Automotive Technology program at Northwest Kansas Technical College where he is making the grade with a 3.389 GPA and an impressive work resume forged of a blue collar work ethic and hands-on experience. This scholarship will aid in the costs of tuition, books, fees, clothing, and tools as part of the two-year Associates program.
When asked how it feels to earn such an award, Keith said, "I'm thrilled! After I graduate I will get to work in the field and learn as much as I can about mechanical, electrical, and fabrication. My goal is to one day start my own specialty shop where I will focus on off-road trucks and performance vehicles. I want to be well rounded and build the reputation as the go-to guy for anything specialized." Keith's mother, Linda, was also on hand and was excited for and proud of her son.
Vic Edelbrock Jr. said, "Keith is a young man of character and automotive passion. He and young men and women like Keith are the future of our business and this scholarship, in honor of my father, will help cultivate and nurture the love affair of the American automobile for generations to come. Congratulations Keith."
